Dean Reid's Speedlite at the Beach Photographers workshop - Behind the Scenes (NO FLASH)The weather was a perfect 79 degrees, with clear blue skies. On July 19th, 2014, I had the pleasure of shadowing professional photographer, Dean Reid, at his Speedlight photography workshop in Chicago, Illinois. The purpose of my behind the scenes coverage, was to simply watch a master at work. I am writing a book and directing a short film, and wanted to observe how Dean Reid captures that "perfect" shot. I was amazed at how effortlessly he directed the models, and was able to get such lovely poses using minimal verbal cues. He instructed the attending photographers on proper camera settings, angles, and how to correctly set up the speedlights. He also offered tips on how to keep the models skin glowing and radiant. Overall, the workshop was a huge success. I am extremely thankful for having the privilege of working with such a talented professional. (All photos were taken without flash for behind the scenes coverage.)
